Moored Beach Marine, Jacksonville Beach, FL, ICW mile 747

We spend the morning visiting with family.

1128 Lord’s Prayer is underway and we call for an opening at the BB McCormick Bridge; we’re bound for St. Augustine today, a distance of 29 nm, where we will be hauled out tomorrow morning, rent a car and drive home for the holidays.

1209 We wait almost 40 minutes for the BB McCormick Bridge before it opens; it’s published as an “on demand” bridge till noon and then it presumably opens every 30 minutes; but boats keep streaming up and the bridge tender keeps holding it for the next guy who comes around the bend in the distance. When the bridge finally opens, the cars on the bridge have a long wait as a huge gaggle of boats motor through.

1600 We arrive in Flagler Beach area. It’s been a beautiful sunny afternoon; the wind has been calm.

1659 We arrive just in time for the 1700 opening of the Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine.

1718 We enter the Sebastian River, where we will moor for the night.

1726 Sunset.

1734 Lord’s Prayer is moored. We’re alongside the south float at St. Augustine Marine, where we will haul out for the holidays. Our position: 29 52.598 N 81 18.910 W (ICW mile 779).  Our positioning voyage began in Cambridge, MD on November 3, 2003. It ends today November 23, 2003, 20 days later. During the voyage the boat sailed 933.1 nm, or an average of about 47 nm per day. During this trip, Lord’s Prayer traveled solely in inland waters – primarily in the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). Accumulated engine time is 523.9 hours. We’ve put 165.2 hours on the engine in moving the boat from Cambridge to St Augustine.

1800 We strip unnecessary gear from above decks to be stowed below while the boat is out of the water over the holidays and begin packing up our gear for the trip north in a rental car.

0900 The boat is lifted out of the water and pressure washed. Afterward she’s moved to a location with access to110v 15a shore power. We set up our power line and a small ceramic heater in the cabin as insurance against the unlikely event of a hard freeze (we haven’t winterized any systems). We also set up two dehumidifying buckets for the preservation of electronic equipment and to aid in the battle against mildew; one bucket goes in the cabin and the other in the port seat locker where several pieces of electrically operated equipment reside.

1030 After picking up a Hertz rental car from the St Augustine airport, we load our gear into the car, transfer Onyx, and we begin the drive home.
